Mainduties

Managers in health care perform some or all of the following duties:

Plan,organize, direct, control and evaluate the delivery of health care serviceswithin a department of a health care institution, or in other settings wherehealth care services are provided

Consultwith boards of directors and senior managers to maintain and establishstandards for the provision of health care services

Developevaluation systems to monitor the quality of health care given to patients

Monitorthe use of diagnostic services, in-patient beds and facilities to ensure effectiveuse of resources

Developand implement plans for new programs, special projects, new material andequipment acquisitions and future staffing levels in their department orestablishment

Planand control departmental or establishment budget

Representthe department or establishment at meetings with government officials, thepublic, the media and other organizations

Supervisehealth care supervisors and professionals

Recruithealth care staff of the department or establishment.
