Mainduties

Managers in aquaculture perform some or all of the following duties:

Managethe overall operation of a fish hatchery, fish farm or other aquatic farm

Identifyrequirements of the species and select and oversee preparation of site forspecies cultivation

Co-ordinateselection and maintenance of brood stock

Determinefood requirements and structure feeding regimes

Monitorenvironment and maintain optimum conditions

Conductand supervise stock examination to identify disease or parasites, and applyprescribed medicinal substances to control and prevent infection

Operateand maintain cultivating and harvesting equipment

Collectand record growth and production data

Manageand train aquaculture and fish hatchery support workers and supervisetechnicians and technologists

Maintainfinancial records and establish market strategies, inventory and qualitycontrol methods

Mayscuba dive to inspect sea farm operations

Maydesign and construct pens, floating stations and collector strings or fencesfor sea farms.
