2017年8月28日起，新西兰SMC技术移民实行新政。只有新西兰技能就业或有offer，以及在新西兰获得过至少年的硕士或博士学历的申请人可以发residence visa，海外申请人分数够只能只能发 job search visa。如果海外申请人在新西兰（新新源移民），则jsv有效期9个月；如果海外申请人在海外，则jsv有12个月有效期。jsv只能主申请人去新西兰，不能带家属。原来的case会延期审理，找到工作后继续审核，如果有效期内没找到工作，则case关闭。
